Simple Creamed Spinach

For a quick elegant side dish any night of the week. With the addition of bacon, it usually will bring a smile to your husbands face too!

Now know that there are richer, more scrumptious recipes out there for creamed spinach. But this is the simple week night version that lets your husband know you are meeting his needs by thinking of him. But, that you had a busy day and took that extra time to clean his underwear rather than cook a roux. He'll be full, feel loved, and grin after he gets out of the shower in the morning.

Your family has a lot of needs, so save the super special for another night, and keep the romance stoked in the mean time with this.

I'm not joking here people. It's the little things like making a simpler side dish that says, I thought of you. Serve in the little things, and don't discount them. They will enrich your marriage. The same principale goes for your kids as well. Serve in the little things, and they will enrich your relationships.

Now there's food for thought.

Marriage Stoking Creamed Spinach
half pack bacon
1 shallot
2 cloves garlic
one package frozen spinach
salt & pepper
1 C 1/2 & 1/2, cream (one or the other, both, whatever makes your husband say yum)
1 tsp nutmeg

Thinly slice the shallot

Chop the garlic

Okay, this really should be step one.

Now scroll back up and slice and chop, then come back here

Take a paper towel and wipe out some of the bacon grease.

You want to leave about 2 tbls or so still in the pan

Now add your shallot and give it a quick stir

Quick! Take a non-blurry picture before it all burns!

The pictures, they stress me out folks

Now add the garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds before you add the spinach

Add the cream, s & p, and nutmeg

Stir it around and let it cook over med/low heat for about 10 minute until flavors meld and the sauce thickens a bit

Adjust seasonings for flavor, chop bacon and add it in and give it a quick mix before serving.

Be encouraged and stoke the flames in your relationships.
